ROOTS ROCK REGGAE ROCKSTEADY and SKA
FOUNDATION JAMAICAN MUSIC TRADITIONAL SOUND SYSTEM STYLE
Dispel those winter blues with a dose of sweet Roots Reggae music. Steve Wax and Darren Jamtone will select a blistering mix from the rich heritage of Jamaican music, from the dawn of the 60s, through to the 80s and beyond.
For this night the tunes will be spun on a traditional Sound System rig, enabling them to be appreciated to full affect, in a back-a-yard style. Darren Jamtone has been the mainstay of the legendary Nations Vibration Sound System for nearly two decades, playing all round Europe.
Steve Wax has been carving out a unique niche as an Installation DJ. The evening will commence with the playing of a “one away” collection of late 50s acetates, played on a period deck, with an accompanying installation.

Guest musicians will be on hand to play live on the Set, including Leroy Horns from happening Dub band The Resonators. Expect action on the mic from guest DJs for your listening pleasure, too.
Soft Wax Meet Jamtone will feature Jamaican dance music at its finest, from jump up Shuffles, to Rub-a-Dub and contemporary UK Roots. Music with deep roots and an enthralling history. There’s also a full licensed bar on hand in this relaxed out of the way venue; pure niceness all the way.
